Marwa + Stephen | Photographs from a Mont Tremblant Wedding

sunset autumn wedding photograph in mont Tremblant

This past autumn we had the pleasure of photographing Marwa and Stephen’s intimate Mont Tremblant wedding. Here are some lovely words that they shared with us:

We met during the brief opening between COVID shutdowns - online- not the most exciting story. At the time Stephen lived in Mont Tremblant while I was in Montreal. We’d hang out for a few days at a time and then not see each other for a week. It was a great way to get to know one another - we sort of cut through the crap quickly, we’d spend days at a time together and not get bored!

One of my favourite moments in the beginning of our relationship was the first time I went up to Stephen’s place at Tremblant. His place was a mess and pretty badly decorated (he was renting a furnished spot). I think he saw the dissatisfaction in my face so he said “wanna get drunk and redecorate?” and that was when I decided that no matter what we’d always know how to have a good time.

His “I knew she was the one” moment was when we were at a gathering with my work friends that he was feeling really uncomfortable (we all go way back, mostly speak just French…) he pulled me aside and asked if we could leave and I was like sure no problem. And another time he woke up at 2am with insane shoulder pain when we were on a romantic getaway in Chelsea. He wanted to go and get some advil so I got up and went with him. He knew that he could always count on me to be there :)

My favorite thing at the wedding was really just having all of my favourite people in one room! And just seeing how happy everyone was and how much fun they were all having. Oh! Also the fact that my baby brother gave a speech. He was supposed to, but then backed out cause he was super burnt out, and at the wedding he pulled me aside and said “I can’t not do this for you”. Stephen says it’s how happy our parents were <3

The best advice I can give other couples planning a wedding is to just have fun. Party! You’re here celebrating your love, no one cares if you got the right napkin rings! The best weddings are ones where the bride and groom are having a great time too.

When we first started planning the wedding, our top priority was making sure everyone felt cozy and comfortable. The venue, food, and guest list reflected that. That’s why it was a breath of fresh air to connect with the Union Eleven team early in the planning process. They were able to reflect that comfort back to us. Their candid approach resonated with us, and their professionalism during our initial conversations reassured us that we could safely stop worrying about the photography vendor. On the day of the wedding, we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the moment trusting that the Union Eleven team would be able to capture the essence of our relationship, as well as the raw and candid moments that happened throughout the afternoon and evening.
