Elvya + Nicolas

natural light wedding photograph of a candid moment

We had the absolute pleasure of photography Elvya and Nicolas’s wedding this past summer. Here’s a little part of their story:

Our wedding day was so special. We both cried when we saw the sun rise! Our priest is the best and came back from his vacation and retirement just for us. The jokes he made set a great mood (nope, can't kiss until priest says so). The photos we took with family, might sound like the usual but given the Covid context it was surreal and everyone was so happy to get the out the house for once.

Our entrance on the terrace was fun. Totally made up. We had practiced the first dance for so long but forgot to plan out something for our entrance. Two days before the event, we realized that and all we did was agree on the basic moves we would chain up together. Running like birds on that song just felt funny so we went along with it. We were so glad to have photos of that!

Our MC kept cracking jokes during the games and dinner! You can really see those explosive laughs in the photos too :) Oh... and the first dance. No shoes, no socks LOL. That raised a few eyebrows. What can we say? That's how we had practiced it for a year in our living room! It just didn't work well when we started wearing shoes and heels so why break something that works?

During dinner we had great speeches, a different kiss for every request, almost succeeded in screwing up the cake and... tango! We weren't sure if dancing would be allowed so we invited pro tango dancers to show us some moves. The dancefloor had so much space! The dancers were splendid and moving. Did you know tango is a 100% improvised dance style? Everything is made up as they go.

Getting married is a chance to be a rockstar for one day, and we delivered. Taken separately we are homebodies, but put together on our wedding day we were carefree happy party rockers :)

Thank you Union Eleven for being there. We loved your work and that's why we chose you. You impressed us with your professionalism, your great sense of humor and we were very touched that you stayed a bit longer than planned to cover our first dance just because you love what you do. We dubbed you the "ninja" because you were never to be seen but always ready to strike.

Elvya and Nicolas
