Photos from a Fall Wedding at Le Belvedere

MIGGY + BEN

the view from le belvederes wedding ceremony location

We had the pleasure of photographing and live streaming Miggy and Ben’s wedding at Le Belvedere this Fall. Like many couples, their wedding plans changed dramatically due to Covid-19. As you’ll read below, they certainly made the most of a tough situation.

Originally, our wedding was going to be a big event with family and friends flying in from around the world to enjoy the fall colours of Ottawa, ON and Gatineau, QC. Unfortunately with COVID-19, a lot of those plans had to change. Reducing the scale of the event, however, allowed us to really reflect on our relationship and what we wanted our wedding to be. The more intimate gathering allowed us to focus on each other. We decided to forgo the writing of vows, and instead wrote letters to each other. These letters allowed us to look back at all of the amazing memories of our journey together so far, and it allowed us wait with anticipation for all that’s to come. Joining the COVID-19 wedding club made us realize that our wedding was not the start of something new, but a commitment to the shared journey we are already on. If we learned anything, it’s that although a wedding should be an occasion for extravagance it is more importantly an opportunity to reflect on your journey of love together, where you have come from and where you dream to go.

We are so thankful to Union Eleven for helping us to capture this moment of reflection. In particular, we are so thankful that they allowed us to share this intimate celebration with all of our loved ones from around the world through their offering of a live stream. Although they were saddened with not being able to attend in person, all of our friends and family felt a needed sense of connection and an opportunity to share in some joy during these challenging times. Union Eleven really helped us in providing that for them.
