Shelbi + Dan | Photos from a Wedding at The Wakefield Grand
We recently had the pleasure of photographing Shelbi and Dan’s wedding at the Wakefield Grand. It was an intimate affair, full of joy, celebration, and amazing light! Here are a couple words from this amazing couple:
Daniel and I first met on our initial day at Carleton University, and though we didn’t know it then, we had found our better half. Since then, we've journeyed through 15 years together and while a significant part of our story played out across different cities and continents in a long-distance relationship, we always found our way back together in Ottawa.
Looking back on our wedding day, one of our favorite memories was the dinner. The Wakefield Grand created a warm and inviting atmosphere with candles, twinkle lights, and draped archways. Our family and friends filled the space with laughter and conversation, making it a truly special scene.
If I was to give some advice to other couples planning a wedding, my suggestion is to start early and choose vendors you genuinely connect with. We met with a number of photographers, but Union Eleven clicked with us. They understood our vision and embraced our willingness to take some creative risks. Our wedding photos include the classic beautiful shots, but some of our favourites came from spontaneously galavanting around a field. It added a fun and lighthearted touch to our day.
