A Fall Wedding at Stonefields Estate

CHELSEY + STEVEN

Steven and Chelsey met in September of 2013. It did not take long to realize they had many mutual interests, similar values and life views. They quickly became inseparable and each other's best friends. Chelsey and Steven spend almost every weekend in the summer months camping or fishing and floating down various rivers around Ottawa.

When they aren't on the lake they are tending to their vegetable and flower gardens. It was very fitting when Steven decided to ask Chelsey for her hand in marriage on a week-long camping/fishing trip to Northern Ontario in May 2019. After 5 days of very cold weather (still snow on the ground) Chelsey was ready to leave. On the last day the weather changed and was beautiful and sunny and very warm. After enjoying a shore lunch in a private lagoon on the lake they were camping at, they went for a walk to the point of the island they had lunch on, and when overlooking the whole beautiful lagoon Steven got down on one knee and asked Chelsey to spend the rest of her life with him, which she happily accepted.

Steven and Chelsey were married on September 12th, 2020. After attempting many different wedding scenarios, they decided to stop postponing their wedding due to Covid and just celebrate their love with a simple ceremony and cocktail hour with their immediate family. The theme of their wedding was originally "dream-like, enchanting, fairy tale" with all green and white floral designs. The decor was based loosely off of Chelsey's favourite disney princess movie Beauty and the Beast, lots of white flours, including roses, green vines, draping, and of course a million candles and candelabras. With having a much smaller scale wedding some of that was lost. But the essence of timeless style and dreamy with white florals and green vinery remained the same. At the end of the day Chelsey and Steven were able to celebrate their love and exchange their vows and promises to each other which is all that really matters.

Steven and Chelsey's original May 15th wedding of 150 guests was quickly cut down to 20 guests for their September ceremony. Their favourite memories are the perfect weather for their wedding day. It had been raining all the way up to their wedding day and every day after, September 12th was a sunny day of 20 degrees and perfect for a wedding. Stevens favourite memory was waiting at the alter for Chelsey to walk down the aisle. The anticipation of seeing his bride was very memorable and exciting. Chelsey and Steven did not do a first look because they liked the tradition of the bride and groom not seeing each other prior to the wedding and the excitement of seeing each other for the first time walking down the aisle!

Chelsey's favourite memory was finally having all of her friends and family not social distancing and being together after 6 long months of not coming within a 2 meter distance. Having her bridal party at her house getting ready was such a happy memory for her during the stressful covid times. Chelsey and Steven's first dance song was Perfect Symphony by Ed Sheeran and Andrea Bocelli. Steven actually chose their wedding song because Chelsey chose all of the other songs and the song she was very passionate about was the one she walked down the aisle to Steven. Steven loved the classical and enchanting feel the song and suited their wedding theme well.
